Electric-powered pit furnaces with built-in retort available in single or two-stage nitriding systems. CYCLONE electric-powered pit furnaces are capable of temperatures up to 1250°F (1400°F optional). The furnaces have a separate heating/fan chamber that provides heat to the work chamber. The workload is heated by a unique re-circulating convection heating system that forces pressurized air through the work chamber at high velocity. A “suspended” fan shroud mates with either the basket or baffle to provide a closed path of circulation when the cover is closed. Atmosphere leaves the fan and travels downward through annular clearance between the retort and basket or shroud to below the load support, then upward through the work before again entering the fan inlet. The arrangement includes a water-cooled lower bearing/atmosphere seal. The retort with sealed cover and circulating fan is provided.
Loading the Cyclone pit furnace is virtually foolproof. Because the fan and heating elements are separate from the load chamber, damage from accidental contact is eliminated. The entire work chamber is metal-lined for maximum durability.
The Cyclone is designed for convenient maintenance. Should element replacement become necessary, the frame-mounted heating unit is easily removed without disturbing the load or cooling the furnace. Simply slip in a spare and you are quickly back in operation. The fan motor is also externally accessible for easy service and replacement.
