Aluminum foam is produced from 6101 Aluminum alloy, retaining 99% purity of the parent alloy. It has a reticulated structure; the cells are open and have a dodecahedral shape. The unique mechanical properties of Aluminum foam are high surface area to volume, high strength to weight ratio and a completely isotropic load response. The foam has many of the properties of the alloy, such as corrosion resistance, strength, electrical and thermal conductivity, but at a fraction of the weight.
A low density, permeable structure of cells and continuous ligaments offering a high surface area to volume ratio, and also a high strength to weight ratio. Owing to the nature of this material, dimensions are nominal.
