Mineral Spirits

Mineral Spirits or Stoddard solvents are colorless liquids. Mineral Spirits are broadly used synthetic, organic solvents obtained from refined crude oil. It is a petroleum mixture of distilled alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatics. It is used as a paint thinner, as a solvent in photocopy toners, printing inks, adhesives, dry cleaning, and as a cleaner and degreaser. Mineral Spirits are employed as solvents for extraction and in aerosols, paints, lacquers, varnishes, wood preservatives, and asphalt compounds.
