Sodium persulfate is a white inorganic solid. It is used as an oxidant in Elbs persulfate/Boyland-Sims oxidation reaction, a radical initiator for emulsion polymerization, a bleaching agent in hair cosmetics, a oxidizing agent for oxidative desizing, a corrosion agent for metal surfaces, a curing agent for formaldehyde adhesives, a precursor for detergents and a soil conditioner.
