Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate is a colorless crystalline solid. It is used as an emulsifier, a buffering agent, a thickening agent, a sequestrant for foods, and a dispersing agent. It is used in toothpaste/ dental floss as a tartar control agent and to eliminate calcium/magnesium from saliva. It is used in detergent and as a chelating agent.
