Sodium Nitrate

Sodium nitrate is a white inorganic solid and hygroscopic. It is used as an oxidizing agent in organic synthesis, as a preservative and antimicrobial agent for foodstuff, as a catalyst to prepare sulfuric acid, and as a cement additive. It is used to manufacture charcoal, glass briquettes, and potassium compounds. It is used in explosives, fertilizers, color/bleach baths in photography, glass, enamels, matches, meats color fixative. It serves as an important fertilizer.
