2-Ethyl Hexanol is an oxo alcohol that is a colorless liquid having solubility in organic solvents with poor solubility in water. It is mostly used in the production of phthalate plasticizers which are widely utilized in the automotive, construction, and appliance industries. As a fatty acid, its esters have emollient properties and are used in skin care products. 2-Ethyl Hexanol has numerous applications such as a solvent in the paint and varnishes industries, dispersing agent for pigment pastes, a wetting agent in the textile industry, a cetane number-improving agent in the refining industry, and also in the production of coat forming and antifoam agents.
