It is used as a paint stripper, a neutralizing agent, an emulsifying agent, a pigment-dispersing aid, a flavoring agent, and as an additive in metal-based formulations. It is used in dry cleaning soaps, soluble textile oils, wax removers, emulsion paints, metal-cutting oils, insecticides, plasticizers, and cosmetics.
