Sulfuric acid is a highly reactive colorless liquid. It damages cells and tissues upon contact causing burns and necrosis. It is used as an electrolyte in lead-acid batteries, a wet etchant in semiconductors, and a cleaning agent. It is used in fertilizer, petroleum refining, wastewater treatment, detergents, synthetic resins, dyestuffs, pigments, enamels, printing inks, coated fabrics, paper, and pharmaceuticals.
