Adipic acid is an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid that is a colorless and odorless solid. It is enormously used in the manufacturing of nylon-6,6 polyamide. Its ester derivatives are used in lubricants, plasticizers, and polyurethane resins. Adipic Acid is also used as an acidulant for gelatins and jams and as a food additive for buffering or neutralizing. Adipic Acid is used to make insect repellent, starch crosslinking agents, and an intermediate for paints.
