TRANS-227, AMS Silicone-Free Food Grade Antifoam

To control foam, the recommended method of application is to add TRANS-227 directly to the foaming product or process. This antifoam was not designed to be diluted with water and should be used in its neat form. However, it can be cut with up to 10% of a low viscosity white oil to reduce its viscosity slightly. If diluted with oil, the maximum usage limits for TRANS-227 shown above for direct food applications no longer apply.

Each foaming problem is unique and requires different treatment levels of antifoam. Trial testing will be necessary to optimize the amount of antifoam used in a given process. Use only the minimum amount of TRANS-227 required to control the foam. A good starting point is 50 -100 ppm in an aqueous system. Do not exceed regulatory usage limits for food applications. As with any antifoam or defoamer, thorough testing should always be conducted to determine the suitability and compatibility of the antifoam with the foaming system and processing equipment.
