As a leading authority in powder metallurgy, at Allied Sinterings, Inc., we specialize in producing small, precision medical components with complex material requirements and design criteria. We manufacture highly engineered custom medical components such as gears, bushings, and complete gearbox and planetary drive assemblies. Tapping into our deep roots in the industry, we help clients develop effective part designs that coincide with their performance and cost objectives, and then transform them into medical assemblies of the highest quality.
Powdered metal processing involves pressing metal powder into an accurately formed die to produce a net shape part. The parts are sintered in an atmosphere controlled furnace to metallurgically bond the metal powder particles, and material blending provides us with a degree of freedom to achieve a unique set of physical properties. With our engineering competency combined with state of the art facilities and equipment, we produce repeatable dimensional accuracy in sintered metal parts with complex shapes and designs.
Using various alloy compositions, including high-performance copper infiltrated steel, stainless steel, and others, we manufacture items such as small to miniature bevel gears, helical gears, and planetary gears used in high tech medical assemblies. Our equipment assets include presses rated at 0.5 to 50 tons that we use to produce parts with O.D. up to 1.5″ while upholding AGMA Class 8 tolerances. Fully calibrated process monitoring and S.P.C. methodologies enable us to repeat the cycle thousands of times.
For medical device companies new to powder metallurgy, we offer seminars to communicate its benefits and provide insight into its design constraints. Powdered metal processing results in high material yield ratios, accurate dimensional tolerances, and consistent part-to-part repeatability, allowing us to deliver parts faster and less expensively than alternative manufacturing methods. With precise alloying, we provide items such as stainless steel bushings, miniature gears, and gear assemblies that satisfy performance and reliability requirements in critical medical applications.
